Life, Memories 1 Second A Day April 9, 2018

Exactly one year ago, on April 9, 2017, I began filming a 1 second a day video. So here it is..April 9, 2018. It’s been a year. Roll the footage.

I started on April 9th for no particular reason except that it was an ordinary day. But that was preciously why I started doing this – to show that no day is ordinary. How often do we say….Oh, I’ll start on January 1, or I’ll start when I have something exciting going on like a new baby, or a new job, or when I go off to college. Being alive right now is reason enough to begin a 1 second a day video.

Ordinary days are completely under-rated. Relaxing with your dogs in your face is an everyday joy.

We all say “where did the time go?” Hey now you can say “I know where the time went!”

Doing this video made me want to do something interesting everyday, but the funny thing is….most days the highlight of my day was simply walking my dogs. Yes, the simple fact that I have the ability to walk and breath is something I always want to cherish and never take for granted. I want to remember Rory and Lucy at these fun ages of 5 and 7 years and our walks in all kinds of weather.

Our days can really blur together and doing a video helps visual our year. On really good days you want to add more than a second.  What you do everyday doesn’t have to be a big thing. We all know it’s the little things that make life better.

There were so many wonderful memories this year that I will not forget. I mean, we had some big events take place from our son getting engaged to meeting Luke Russert. It was wonderful meeting the recipients of awards in our beloved Natalie’s honor and see goodness continue. We celebrated our daughter Caroline moving to Boston. But nothing beats the normal days too. Normal days are completely under-rated.

My birthday cake was extra special. Wow. Glad I got a video of that.
Our son took the knee.

It’s a great way to see how you spend your time. We all need to spend our time doing what matters. I guess for me it’s walking my dogs, visiting my mom, surviving the snow, praising the Lord and loving my man. I’ll take it.

Sincerely, Trish

PS- I repeat- normal days are completely under-rated. Remember just a second of these under-rated normal days.

It was a thrill to meet Luke Russert. I know how much Natalie enjoy reading “Big Russ and Me” written by his dad Tim.

Beautiful and very stirring. Time is something we are all guilty of wasting and thinking it will last forever.

Missed opportunities are truly regretful. Yet we all can grow in our desire to make good use of our time. Thank you Peg.
