Recently, my husband did something really good and really bad at the same time. He picked up a delicious Kringle at Trader Joes. It’s so so good yet it’s probably so bad for you too. You’ve probably walked past the display countless times if you have ever shopped at Trader Joes. Kringles are pastries that originated in Denmark that were introduced to Racine, Wisconsin in the late 1800s by Danish immigrants. Racine was, at one time, home to more people of Danish descent than any other city in America. Think not only Cheese but also Danish Kringle when you think of Wisconsin. If you ever want to visit Racine, the City is 22 miles South of Milwaukee. Trader Joe’s certainly has their finest export.

The pastry itself is made from more than 30 buttery, flaky layers, and it can be filled with a variety of flavors. Almond, Pecan and Pumpkin Kringle come to mind. Trader Joe’s gets the Kringles at O&H Danish Bakery. The family-owned bakery has been making Kringle for more than 65 years, and each one takes three full days to produce. You can read it all on the packaging.

We like it so much we made a commercial for the Danish Kringle. Please view and have a laugh on us.

My husband and I do love the Kringle with some coffee. We just gotta make sure we save it for special occasions like Christmas morning and special brunches. We especially love the pecan flavor.

I hope you try it. We like it warmed in the oven for just a few minutes. It’s a special treat and it just may take you all the way to Denmark for just 7 dollars and 99 cents.

Sincerely, Trish
