When we are little and we craze closeness to another child, we often start building our relationships with vigor wanting to connect and know everything about our new friend. We usually start out with the easy questions. Like…What’s your favorite color?

Inspired by this simple question and the closeness I want to feel with Christ our Lord, I just imagined asking Him that question. Dear Lord…please tell me…what is your favorite color?

I looked around for the answer. And it was there in vivid displays. Green….green is the color of spring and rebirth, or fiddleheads and beans, and beautiful frogs and stunning leaves. Green is the back round to make all the other colors look so vibrant. Green is the grass that covers the earth and green is just so very lush. Green is the good stuff to eat, and we all know that we should all have green plants in our house for cleaner air.

There are many ways to pray to God. Many ways to grow in closeness to Him. Most of us pray to make requests to Him. Dear God – help me to feel better, protect my child, please help our family, please heal this friend, please help us….and that is a wonderful thing to do …a pray requesting help.

But you can also pray by praising….oh dear Lord…Praise you. Help me to get to know you better. Help me to grow closer to You.

We cannot duplicate the deep forest greens and lime greens we find in nature for they are your creations.

Tell me more about you. Let me grow closer to you.

Oh, I see what color if your favorite now….it’s not just green…it’s also blue.
